It’s used in conjunction with an aftermarket alarm and or immobilizer. It may or may not still function. Basically the alarm should disarm when you unlock your car but this using a series of presses can be used to disable the alarm if there’s an issue. If it has interior monitoring then it may be used to disable this if you want to leave a dog or child in the car while you’re away.
