I mean the ones that are flat just to cover the space. I saw they can be removed yesterday while deep cleaning a newly bought Suzuki Grand Vitara 2002, and my friend mentioned they can be used for modifications.

I can’t find their name though, or the name of the whole… section?

Can someone help me figure this out? What are they called and what are some cool or common uses?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Those are “poverty buttons”- features not included on lower trim models.

Switch blanks. They’re there because your car doesn’t have every option. Like on the console, the bottom left and right would be for heated seats.

They are there to constantly remind you that you didn’t buy the top-spec version.

My guess is what he meant by that is that if you install a mod, like off road lights or something, that’s a really easy place to install a switch for them. That’s usually what people do with them.

I’ve gone to the junkyard and picked up the missing switches and added them to my poverty-spec car. I’ve only used one of them for anything so far – a custom iPod/iPhone controller I made, and will probably use another should I add fog or driving lights.
