I’ve scratched up my daily leather steering wheel one too many times with my gold wedding ring. Before I scratch up my other nicer cars I’m going to stop wearing my ring after 9 years. Wife says do it.

What you need is one of those pink fluffy sterring wheel covers to stop this from happening.

you can always get a soft silicone wedding ring instead.

even a Z4M is old enough now that I wouldn’t care about scratching the wheel, but idk. I would also be more devastated to lose the ring than scratch the wheel, but im pretty likely to lose a ring taking it on and off repeatedly like this

Get a matching chain, put the ring on it and wear it as a chain when u are driving.

    Stop white-knuckle-driving! Problem solved.

That used to have place when I was just married. As time went on it stopped to be an issue. Somehow my wedding ring made a groove on my finger and it’s no longer a problem.

Get a silicone ring. There’s many cheap options that are pretty nice. You can get multiple colors and multi packs on Amazon for $25 or less.

I work around cars, and for that reason, I’ve never worn mine.

However, neither my wife or I are big on wearing decorations, so it works out.

Meh it’s your choice, but in the end it’s only a steering wheel…

JFC. All the comments here talking about catching their ring on something while working. Has nobody ever taught you to REMOVE jewelry before working on stuff?

IDK, maybe it’s due to me being taught that when i was a kid, working on vehicles with my Dad (watch goes in your back pocket, or on the bench) or that my machine shop teacher always told us to take off any rings, necklaces or our watch if we were in the shop, but i always take my rings off whenever i go under the hood for anything more then adding washer fluid.

As for your steering wheel damage u/knasber, i can understand that. It looks like it’s the design of your wedding back that’s really the issue (thin edge, easily picks up on the leather) but why not simply take your ring off while driving, and put it in your pocket? Either way, you sound like you have an understanding wife regarding the issue.

Just get the silicone rings? I wear them, you don’t even know it’s there

My hands themselves are so rough that that nice shiny leather look never lasts much longer that a few years before I ware though the outer layer leaving it looking almost suede where my hand sits.

If you can find a tattoo artist that isn’t so snobby about their work..they will ink a permanent wedding band. Actually pretty hard to find an artist who will do this, but better than a silicon ring, IMHO

I wear a silicone ring and wear my real band on special occasions

  20. TheRealTechGandalf

You can always wear it as a pendant, much less obstructive

I’d suggest throwing it back into Mt. Doom before it’s too late…
