So generally, what do you do for engine care, interior care and a well-maintained car?

That is like asking how long is a piece of string?

Mechanical care is determined by the maintenance schedule outlined by the manufacturer plus whatever outstanding items might crop up with age/miles. On some cars this can be quite intense (think older Ferrari), or very light (think basic newer Honda).

Again, interior car depends to some degree what materials are used and age. An older car with leather and wood will need different and more frequent care than a cloth interior.

Exterior is determined by whether the car is stored inside or out, and what weather it encounters. See r/autodetailing FAQ for details.

I just change the oil and wash off the salt in spring. 300k miles strong. Duck tape is holding some plastic parts on but I live where duct tape is used to hold the brakes on and as motor oil so I’m considered affluent lol.

The biggest most significant thing I do is keep it indoors. I wash it frequently so schmootz doesn’t build up and turn in to cement. Your car may seem clean all summer when it doesn’t rain, but if you live anywhere with trees, you’re picking up little microscopic tree shit like pollen and sap and over many years it builds up to a point where you can actually see it, and then requires a clay bar to remove.

Other than that, just basic fluid maintenance. When something bigger goes wrong it lets me know and I address it promptly.

I love my car and never miss maintenance but cleaning etc, nah

I keep it clean to start, wash, vacuum out, remove all rubbish, do a weekly check on all fluids and pressures.
    Service as required.
Dicuss and sort any other issue with my service agent.
Drive reasonably without trying to be a twat on the road, keep a sensible following distance. Be curtious and smile. Charging in traffic flips people’s f-it-switch and doesn’t do anything other than cause trouble.
If allowed in thank the person doing so. If let in thank the person doing so.
Try not to be a right cock in reality.

99 Firebird. Once a year it’s a full clean out. Regualr synthetic oil changes. Otherwise usual maintenance per schedule

Gently stroke the rear bumper every once in a while.
