From the Floor of Ford Otosan Romania | Bringing Your Passions to Work | Ford

Dance… I say is treatment for the soul, that’s what I tell everyone because first of all it was treatment for my soul. That is what I feel, that I help, I help all those who come to my dance class at the dance school where I teach.

When I was a child and I could barely walk, my father took me by the hand around the yard and we would dance. He whistled and I danced. That’s how I learned the folk dances. My name is Elena Bălună,

I am an operator in the body and chassis section of the Ford Otosan Romania plant. I put the doors on the car, but I don’t only put them on, I also prepare them, I put on the door hinges, then I mount the door on the car.

I think I was somewhere around four years old when my father brought home a computer and I was very fascinated by the keyboard, the mouse what you can do with a simple click and this passion grew when I started to be very interested in how these applications are made.

My name is Alexandru Gârlea, I am a virtual training analyst for new models at the General Assembly of Ford Otosan Romania. So far we have managed to create virtual stations and all the new employees have gone through this training process of the operations they belong to.

For me it is an enormous satisfaction because I know that I am part of the process called “zero mistakes and zero errors” on the production line. Since I started working at Ford I am proud because I see what grows from my hand, from the hands of the entire team.

I see the car’s body come to life at the end of the production line and I’m excited, that I can do an operation that I never imagined I could ever do. Ford is perceived in Romania as a broad American tradition linked to a local commitment, they are bound together.

Our Ford team members have many diverse passions outside of work and sometimes their personal interests and professional talents overlap. In this video from Ford Otosan Romania, we meet plant operator Elena Bălună, who is also a folk dance instructor, and Alexandru Gîrlea, a virtual training analyst who has been fascinated with technology since he was four years old. They never pictured they would work at Ford one day but now their skills in teamwork and tech help them assemble, train and bring Ford products to life.
