A closer look at the 2023 Volkswagen ID.3 with Mike Orford

Since its launch in 2020 the ID3 paved the way for electrification across the whole Volkswagen group I’m really excited today to have the new model alongside the outgoing one so that we can look at all the key features and updates that I’ve come across with this new model

Let’s start in the external styling of this new vehicle the Bonnet looks a little bit longer it’s actually not what we’ve done is remove the black styling element that was previously here which gave it a very cab forward look now it looks longer and you can see here these

New indents lend an even more sporty appearance but it doesn’t stop there as you move down and look here you can see these new air intakes it creates an air curtain effect for an improved aerodynamics and this element here has more of a pronounced smile that’s quite

A Volkswagen trait going right back to the Beetle and it lends a friendly look to the car now let’s move to The Styling at the side of the car the profile now there wasn’t much wrong with the ID3 to begin with on the side in fact it’s very attractive and that continues it’s

Accentuated here by this metallic strip that runs alongside the top of the profile but it’s cleaner now whereas on some of the earlier models we had decals here on the c-pillar and we also had badging above the front wheel Arch they’re now being removed to give a much cleaner purer profile appearance

Now let’s move to the rear of the new ID3 and you’d be forgiven for thinking that nothing’s changed it has and it’s a very small but very significant detail change and that is this trip here which previously I was a reflector only but now it’s fully illuminated and it’s

Joined of course by the signature X symbol that was so famous on the original model inside the new ID3 all those Hallmarks of the original model such as the clean design and huge amounts of interior space are left intact but there’s a significant uplift in interior quality the perception of

That so here where you rest your arm it’s a much softer feeling foam it’s this new art velor’s Eco material which is echoed in the seat covers and it’s made from 71 recycled plastic materials now looking here on the dashboard this material here as well it feels much

Higher quality it features now stitching and the ID3 badge in these redesigned air vents on the technology front obviously the ID3 also leads and here the 10 inch screen which is high resolution an improved more intuitive menu system other highlights include include optional augmented reality head-up display park assist plus and the

Optional in future of bi-directional charging to allow you to put energy back into your home if you have that capability so there you have it the new Volkswagen ID3 available in two battery sizes the pro and the pro s with three things really to highlight the new exterior design which is sharper and

More Dynamic inside there’s a significant uplift in interior quality and even more sustainability and Technology bigger focus on Innovation than ever before

The ID.3 has paved the way for electrification across the Volkswagen brand, and it is continuing to do so ⚡️ Discover the latest ID.3 updates, inside and out, with Mike Orford, Head of PR and Communications at Volkswagen.
