Good start, but we are way behind on climate change mitigation. We need to disincentive ICE. Maybe the battery plant subsidy should be greater for ICE factories converting to battery packs, rather than building new.

The real trouble for ICE car market is, no serious car makers will invest in R&D for new ICE tech, except for maybe certain sports cars. They will still make ICE cars, but not improving them any more, which means the end is near.

The reason why is their ICE cars will, first and foremost, compete against their own EVs and PHEVs.

Also a huge problem which is overlooked is debt on ICE related assets. People mention how profitable ICE cars help the transition to less profitable BEVs, but don’t consider that the assets to build them are bought on loans which as supposed to spread out over 20 years.
