2026 BYD Seagull Got A Massive Upgrade!

The 2026 BYD Seagull, also known as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf in selected markets, is a compact all-electric hatchback designed for convenient urban driving. Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, it features a modern exterior, compact dimensions, and an efficient electric powertrain. Depending on the version, it uses a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 55 kW, or around 74–75 horsepower, while higher-output versions can deliver up to 95 kW, equivalent to approximately 127 horsepower. Torque is rated at 135 Nm, with a reported 0–50 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. The vehicle is designed primarily for city commuters who want an affordable, practical, and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional petrol-powered cars.

The BYD Seagull is equipped with BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate battery technology, offering battery capacities of approximately 30 kWh and 38–39.2 kWh, depending on the variant. The smaller battery version provides a claimed range of around 305 kilometres, while larger-battery models can achieve approximately 405–420 kilometres under the CLTC test cycle. It also supports DC fast charging, with some versions capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under suitable conditions. The standard model measures around 3,780 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,540 mm in height, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase. Newer or larger-generation versions may have different dimensions and configurations. Depending on the version, the Seagull accommodates four or five passengers and offers practical luggage space for everyday shopping, commuting, and short trips.

Inside, the 2026 BYD Seagull combines a modern cabin layout with useful technology and safety equipment. Its interior features a rotating central infotainment touchscreen, typically measuring 10.1 inches, along with smartphone connectivity and convenient digital controls. Selected variants may offer BYD’s DiPilot driver-assistance technology and advanced intelligent driving functions associated with its God’s Eye system, depending on the market and equipment package. Safety features can include multiple airbags, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, and additional driver-assistance systems on higher trims. With an indicative starting price of around 69,900 to 85,900 yuan in China, equivalent to approximately $10,300 to $12,800 USD, the BYD Seagull stands out as an accessible electric hatchback for buyers seeking practical transportation, efficient battery technology, and modern features in a compact package.
