EU China Trade Deal: Fewer Chinese Hybrid Cars in Europe. Who Pays? #shorts

EU China trade deal explained: China agreed to cut hybrid and plug-in hybrid car exports to Europe by more than half (the EU’s account), several million cars over 4 years. What it means for car prices, BYD and MG buyers, Volkswagen jobs and Stellantis plants.

Last year Europe took in 1 million China-made cars and sent back barely 160,000 (ACEA). Chinese hybrids were left out of the EU’s 2024 tariffs on Chinese EVs, and plug-in hybrid imports rose 86% in a year while their prices fell 20%. It is not final: EU leaders discuss it at the European Council on October 15 and 16, 2026. UK buyers are not covered by the deal.
