I've seen that image-and plenty of others-claiming "all modern cars look the same; they're all white SUVs." Well, if you stand far enough from a crowd of people, they're all going to start looking alike too, for God's sake!

Cars have always looked similar because of design trends. Back in the fastback era, every muscle car kind of looked alike-from a Chevelle and Challenger to a Camaro and Cutlass. Then came the pop-up headlights, the organic curves of the '90s, light-bar taillights, and rear spoilers. Look at the Mitsubishi 3000GT, RX-7, Celica, and Supra.

Why are we acting like a Hyundai Palisade looking similar to a Volvo XC90 is a brand-new problem, while pretending the Corvette and Opel GT weren't practically twins? Sure, color choices have narrowed down to mostly gray, black, and white, but that's hardly a unique feature of modern cars either
