Porsche Cayenne Electric gets wireless charging and more for 2027

Porsche has expanded the number of ways to personalise your new Cayenne Electric, and added wireless charging to the options list.

With the arrival of 2027 model-year versions of the Cayenne Electric SUV and Coupe, customers will be able to make their new EV even more bespoke.

Grabbing the most attention will be Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s larger range of Paint to Sample colours.

These boost the paint choices from 13 standard hues to more than 100, although picking from the expanded menu will add £7,913 to the cost of your luxury SUV.

More practically, the updated Cayenne Electric is the first production EV to offer charging without a cable.

Recharge your SUV like a smartphone

Wireless charging was one of the major features touted ahead of the Cayenne Electric’s launch, beginning a rollout of the technology across Porsche’s EV model range.

Instead of relying on a traditional wallbox, the official Porsche Wireless Charging system can fully replenish the Cayenne Electric’s battery just by parking above it.

Up to 11kW of charging power is provided, sent from a ground-mounted pad to a receiver unit mounted between the car’s front wheels. Charging starts automatically once the Porsche is positioned above the pad, with the suspension lowering automatically.

Convenience does not come cheap. Porsche buyers need to spend £1,322 on the vehicle-mounted receiver, plus a further £5,355 for the ground charging unit.

The latter does not include installation of the required 400-volt three-phase home electricity connection to power it, however.

Enhanced luxury for the Cayenne Electric

Along with new paint choices and the potential for wireless charging, the updated Cayenne Electric adds power-operated doors to its options list.

This allows the doors to open fully with just a simple pull on the handle. They can also be activated using the Cayenne Electric’s infotainment system or vehicle key.

Enhanced comfort can be found with a 4D audio system that combines music with a massage function.

This £2,109 upgrade adds 16 air cushions to the front seats, plus six sound actuators in the backrests and seat cushions, to create an ‘intense’ massage effect to match the music being played.

There is also a new £9,444 Interior Style Package, which incorporates two-tone black and Delgada Green leather upholstery, including on the door cards and steering wheel.
