WILLISTON, N.D. (KFYR) – A stolen e-bike in Williston is back with its owner, thanks to a very specific detail.
Prosecutors accuse Ryan Dye of stealing a $1,300 electric bicycle last month. The day after it was taken, officers spotted Dye with the bike.
Police found it looking beat up.
Dye told officers he was fixing it up for a friend, but the real owner identified the bike immediately, telling police he knew it was his because of the rubber grips he’d cut off the handlebars himself.
Dye is now facing a theft charge.
