Tesla’s European rollout for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is getting back on track after a quiet summer. Following a two-month pause in fresh market approvals, a sixth European nation has officially given the advanced driver-assistance system the green light to operate on public streets.
The announcement came straight from Tesla’s official European branch. In a concise post shared on X, the @teslaeurope account confirmed that FSD (Supervised) has been cleared to launch in Slovenia and that an official rollout would begin soon.
The green light in Slovenia marks the first new European market added to the roster since early June, expanding the active footprint of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) across the continent.
Expanding the European Roster
Slovenia’s sign-off builds upon a regulatory pathway first forged earlier this spring. The Netherlands became the first European country to approve FSD, where the Dutch vehicle authority (RDW) granted type approval that other EU member states can legally adopt.
A wave of mutual recognitions quickly followed. After Lithuania welcomed FSD and Estonia approved it for public roads, the pace accelerated as Denmark officially joined the ranks in June. No more than a day later, Tesla’s European FSD rollout also added Belgium to the tally, making it five active countries.
With Slovenia becoming the sixth nation to validate the system, the regulatory momentum could trigger another chain reaction. South of the Alps, FSD is inching closer to regulatory approval in Italy, and seeing neighboring Slovenia greenlight the software could encourage Italian transport officials to finalize their own framework. Software updates are also flowing freely for European owners, with Tesla recently rolling out the Summer Update to FSD vehicles in the region.
Opposition Ahead of the EU-Wide Vote
While the individual country list continues to grow, securing blanket approval across the entire European Union remains an uphill climb.
A formal EU-wide vote on FSD approval is scheduled for later this fall, but several influential member states remain skeptical. Both France and Sweden have voiced concerns over how the system manages vehicle speed. Sweden urged the EU to reject Tesla FSD over speeding concerns, pointing out that the manual “Speed Offset” setting and dynamic Speed Profiles allow vehicles to exceed statutory limits. France has also raised similar issues against FSD.
To unlock a unified, borderless rollout across all 27 EU nations, Tesla will need to address regulatory pushback regarding strict speed limit adherence. In the meantime, piece-by-piece national approvals like Slovenia’s ensure that more European drivers get hands-on experience with the system every month, further feeding Tesla’s data flywheel.
