Two people — a man and a woman — who were riding an e-bike in Northeast Philly overnight — have been hospitalized after, police said, they crashed after running a red light.

According to police, a man in his thirties has been hospitalized in critical condition while a 27-year-old woman was stable at a local hospital following a crash that happened at about 12:13 a.m. at the intersection of Cottman and Algon avenues in Northeast Philly.

The incident happened, officials said, as the e-bike, driven by the man injured in this crash, disregarded a red stop light at that intersection and struck the rear of a silver 2013 Toyota that was headed east on Cottman Avenue.

The 34-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Toyota that was struck by the pair on the e-bike was unhurt, officials said.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, officials said.
