Grab has made a strategic investment in Vietnamese electric vehicle charging platform EBOOST, strengthening its push to expand charging infrastructure for drivers as demand for electric mobility accelerates in Vietnam.

The investment, for which Grab has not revealed the specific value, follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the two companies in November 2025 and marks another step in Grab’s efforts to build an electric mobility ecosystem around its ride-hailing platform.

Prior to Grab’s investment, EBOOST had operated more than 2,500 charging points and serves over 10,000 electric vehicle users nationwide.

The partnership initially focused on giving Grab driver-partners access to EBOOST’s charging network, helping them locate charging stations and reduce operating costs as they switch to electric vehicles.

With the latest investment, EBOOST plans to strengthen its financial capacity and accelerate the expansion of its charging network across Vietnam, while continuing to develop its software platform for electric cars and motorbikes.

EBOOST’s charging network has been integrated into the EV Charging feature on the Grab Driver app since April. Grab car driver-partners can use the app to locate nearby EBOOST stations, start charging sessions, and make payments, with hundreds of charging points already connected to the platform.

More than 70% of driver-partners continued using the service within the first seven days, according to Grab and EBOOST, suggesting relatively strong early engagement.

The companies plan to extend the charging service to electric motorbike driver-partners, adding thousands of charging points to the system.

For Grab, access to a broader charging network could help lower operating barriers for drivers transitioning to electric vehicles. For EBOOST, integration with Grab provides access to a large commercial user base while potentially improving charger utilization and recurring revenue.

The investment comes as charging infrastructure becomes increasingly important to the expansion of electric ride-hailing in Vietnam, with Grab facing growing competition from platforms built around electric vehicles.

The partnership also places EBOOST in a market where major EV players have been investing heavily in charging infrastructure.

VinFast, an EV arm of Vingroup (HoSE: VIC), established V-Green in March 2024 as a separate charging infrastructure company spun out of its charging station development operations. V-Green is responsible for operating and managing VinFast’s existing charging network in Vietnam.

In March, V-Green revealed a plan to invest VND10 trillion ($383.36 million) to build 99 ultra-fast charging hubs in Vietnam this year, with each station enabling charging for 100 electric cars at the same time. As of end-2025, VinFast had installed 150,000 charging ports for electric vehicles across Vietnam.

Meanwhile, EV ride-hailing platform Green SM, backed by Vingroup and its chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, currently uses charging infrastructure provided by V-Green and VinFast.
