MONROE COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — One person was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 87 near Plant Scherer after a Tesla hydroplaned into oncoming traffic.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at around 5:42 p.m. on Highway 87 near the entrance to Plant Scherer.

Deputies responded to the accident involving a Kia Sorento and a Tesla Model Y.
The investigation shows that the driver of the Tesla hydroplaned into the path of the Kia.
Both the driver and passenger of the Kia were taken to a Macon hospital.
The person in the Tesla was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
