A dramatic year-on-year drop is reshaping buyer preferences, while imported used models continue to dominate Ukraine’s electric vehicle market.

In July 2026, Ukraine’s new electric vehicle market declined sharply: Ukrainians purchased 423 new battery-powered vehicles. Compared with July 2025, the figure fell by 73%. The data was released by the Ukrainian Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, Ukravtoprom.

Overall, more than 3,900 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered in Ukraine during the month. Year on year, the number of registrations decreased by 44%.

Registrations of passenger and commercial electric vehicles

Passenger electric cars accounted for the bulk of July registrations, totaling 3,756 units. Of these, 423 were new vehicles, while another 3,333 used cars were imported into Ukraine.

The used electric vehicle market also declined: demand for such vehicles fell by 37% compared with July last year.

In the commercial BEV segment, 172 vehicles were registered. Only 14 of them were new. By comparison, of the 176 commercial electric vehicles registered in July 2025, 20 were new.

BYD Sea Lion 06 EV – 73 units;
BYD Leopard 3 – 40 units;
VW ID.Unyx – 39 units;
Zeekr 001 – 36 units;
Zeekr 7X – 28 units.

Most frequently chosen used electric cars

Among used electric vehicles imported from abroad, the following models recorded the highest number of registrations:

Tesla Model Y – 509 units;
Tesla Model 3 – 456 units;
Nissan Leaf – 383 units;
Chevrolet Bolt – 209 units;
KIA Niro EV – 139 units.

Electric vehicle market figures for the first half of the year

From January to June 2026, Ukrainians purchased 15,200 electric vehicles. During the same period in 2025, the number of registered electric cars stood at 31,800. Thus, electric vehicle sales and registrations in Ukraine in 2026 remain significantly below last year’s figures.
