Police search for rider following collision that injured two year old

Police in Essex are searching for the rider of an electric bike involved in a collision with a two-year-old pedestrian in Clacton.
The incident occurred on Pathfields Road at around 9pm on Thursday, 13th August.
The child sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by air ambulance.
The electric bike, described as having a scrambler design with red handlebars, failed to stop at the scene.
Witnesses reported the rider was wearing a grey hoodie top and a balaclava.
Tendring District Commander Chief Inspector Stuart Austin acknowledged community concerns, citing the impact of dangerous and anti-social use of e-bikes, e-scooters, and motorcycles.
Chief Inspector Austin said, “I understand the local community will be extremely concerned following this incident. We know the dangerous and anti-social use of e-bikes, e-scooters, and motorcycles impacts residents across town. We are committed to tackling the issue.”
During a recent operation, police seized 27 vehicles and e-scooters, a part of an ongoing effort to address the issue.
“We are working at pace to locate the person responsible. I would urge anyone who can help to get in touch,” Austin said.
The police are asking anyone with information, CCTV, dash cam, or other footage related to the incident to contact them.
