BYD officially launched the Qin Max last night, a B-segment sedan for its Dynasty series. The model is available in both DM-i (plug-in hybrid) and EV (pure electric) powertrains across nine different variants, with prices ranging from 99,900 yuan (14,700 USD) to 143,900 yuan (21,200 USD).

The DM-i lineup consists of four models:
230 km Leading: 99,900 yuan (14,700 USD)
230 km Transcendence: 109,900 yuan (16,200 USD)
320 km Transcendence: 119,900 yuan (17,600 USD)
320 km Excellence: 129,900 yuan (19,100 USD)
The EV lineup offers five models:
530 km Leading: 109,900 yuan (16,200 USD)
530 km Transcendence: 119,900 yuan (17,600 USD)
530 km Excellence: 129,900 yuan (19,100 USD)
630 km Transcendence: 132,900 yuan (19,500 USD)
630 km Excellence: 143,900 yuan (21,200 USD)
Additionally, an optional “God’s Eye B” advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) with LiDAR is available for certain models at 12,000 yuan (1,800 USD), and dual-tone body colours can be added for 3,000 yuan (400 USD).

Performance and charging
The Qin Max EV is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle featuring BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. Under normal temperatures, the battery can charge from 10% to 70% in approximately 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in about 9 minutes. It offers two motor options with power outputs of 120 kW (161 hp) and 240 kW (322 hp), providing CLTC ranges of 530 km and 630 km, respectively. The high-power version delivers a peak torque exceeding 400 N · m, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in the 5-second range.
The DM-i version utilises the fifth-generation DM technology, combining a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (74 kW / 99 hp) with a 175 kW (235 hp) drive motor. It offers a combined range of up to 2,370km and a fuel consumption rate of 2.59L/100km.
Smart Driving and chassis
The “God’s Eye B” system introduces urban navigation assistance, allowing the vehicle to handle ramps, lane changes, and obstacle avoidance in both highways and city streets. BYD is also introducing a “safety net” policy for this system, where the company will bear the liability for accidents occurring while the function is used in compliance with regulations.
The vehicle features a MacPherson front suspension and a five-link independent rear suspension. High-end trims include the DiSus-C intelligent damping body control system with road preview capabilities.
Dimensions and interior
The Qin Max measures 4866mm in length, 1880mm in width, and 1495mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2820mm. The interior features a 15.6-inch floating central screen, AR-HUD, and a built-in cooling/heating refrigerator.

The Qin Max cannot be discussed without mentioning the 2027 Seal 06, which was launched just two days ago. Indeed, these two vehicles can essentially be seen as two variants of the same car under the Dynasty and Ocean sales networks, respectively.
The Qin Max and Seal 06 share the same 2820mm wheelbase, with a difference of only 4mm in length and 10mm in width. Both cars offer DM-i and rear-wheel-drive EV options. The DM-i versions both utilise a 74 kW 1.5L engine paired with a 175 kW drive motor. The EV versions both come with two power outputs – 120kW and 240kW – and two CLTC range options of 530km and 630km.
The EV versions of both cars are equipped with second-generation Blade batteries and flash charging. Features such as the “God’s Eye” Level 2+ driving system, DiSus-C intelligent damping body control, DiLink 150, AR-HUD, and a heating/cooling fridge can be found in their respective spec sheets. Aside from the exterior, interior details, and specific trim level distribution, the core mechanical and technical specifications of the Qin Max and Seal 06 are almost identical.
