Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized the MUL.E, the nation’s first all-wheel-drive (2×2) electric military motorcycle, for operational use in high-intensity combat.
It treads as lightly as an infantryman’s boot, power-glides past acoustic sensors without a sound, and doubles as a mobile generator capable of keeping FPV drone strikes operational on the frontlines.
Designed by a Ukrainian military tech firm in direct response to battlefield feedback, the all-wheel-drive machine navigates hazardous frontline terrain where heavy vehicles grind to a halt. And the best part is that the motorcycle distributes its mass so broadly that its ground pressure matches a soldier on foot.
“The vehicle was designed at the request of the military to perform tasks in a modern high-intensity war. The engineers delivered a number of important design solutions that traditional military motorcycles with internal combustion engines do not have,” the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated in the press statement.
Dual independent motors
Standard internal combustion engines and heavy armor expose troops to loud engine noise, sharp thermal signatures, and vulnerability to pressure-activated anti-tank mines.
The MUL.E uses dual independent electric motors for silent, low-heat operation and wide tires that spread its weight to match an infantryman’s footstep. It allows it to glide past sensors and cross minefields undetected.
If one motor breaks down, the second keeps spinning to ensure troops are never stranded in no-man’s-land.
Interestingly, the vehicle has been designed to ride through deep snow, marshlands, washed-out dirt paths, and heavy sand, carrying wounded soldiers, hauling gear, or towing fully loaded trailers.
Electric vehicles usually die when their charge runs out. The MUL.E does not.
Its onboard battery yields nearly 100 kilometers (62 miles) of silent travel. Plus, engineers mounted a removable petrol generator directly to the frame. Once stationary, small assault squads can detach the generator to power field equipment, recharge communications gear, or top off FPV drone batteries right in the trench. It is transport and power grid wrapped into one lightweight frame.
Rapid mission requirements
Built for both paved roads and rugged off-road terrain, the MUL.E will be used to transport armed personnel, haul critical supplies, and execute rapid evacuations of wounded soldiers. Its adaptable design allows small combat units to maintain swift, flexible logistics in hazardous areas where standard transport cannot go.
“During testing, MUL.E confirmed its stated performance characteristics and its ability to carry out military missions,” the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated.
MUL.E delivers exceptional mine resistance through its ultra-low ground pressure while remaining powerful enough to tow a fully loaded trailer.
Two-wheelers have quickly become essential frontline assets alongside pickup trucks. They grant small mobile teams rapid repositioning speed where roads no longer exist.
To meet growing demand, Ukraine’s Defense Procurement Agency (DOT) contracted 1,500 motorcycles in 2026. This is triple the previous year’s supply.
Furthermore, competitive bidding among six suppliers reduced unit prices, saving the Ukrainian state budget nearly UAH 12 million.
