WARREN TWP. – SOUTHINGTON – State Troopers say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the death of a Leavittsburg man who was run over Tuesday night along a road in Warren Township.
A news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol says 49-year-old William Blair was lying in the road on Tod Avenue near Eighth Street SW when he was struck by a pickup truck just after 9 p.m.
Troopers say when the driver slammed on the brakes, his pickup was struck from behind by a Dodge Charger, which also ran over Blair.
Blair was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators believe that Blair had been riding an electric bicycle on Tod Avenue when he lost control and fell off. The bike was still in the road when Blair was hit.
The Patrol doesn’t know how long Blair had been lying on the road when he was run over.
The crash is still under investigation.
