BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue residents and visitors will soon have new options for getting around without a car, as shared electric scooters and bikes hit city streets.
The City of Bellevue has partnered with Lime to reintroduce shared electric bikes and launch shared scooters starting Monday.
City officials say the devices can help with short trips, connect riders to bus and light rail, and make everyday errands easier by reducing the hassle of parking and cutting down on car trips and congestion in busy areas.
The city also described the program as a flexible and affordable way for people who live, work, or spend time in Bellevue to get where they need to go.
During the initial launch, 500 devices will be available throughout the city, including 350 scooters, 50 e-bikes, and 100 seated gliders.
To mark the launch, the city and Lime will host a community event on Friday.
The event is scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Amazon Meadow, 600 108th Ave. NE in Bellevue.
Community mobility and transit partners are expected to share resources, and Lime will distribute free helmets.
