The Thema 8.32 has become one of my favourite automotive rabbit holes. It wasn’t built because Lancia needed more horsepower. It was built because Lancia needed an identity.
That’s what makes the story fascinating. Ferrari agreed to supply one of its own production V8s, engineers had to redesign almost everything around it, and the result wasn’t the fastest saloon of the era.
It was something much stranger.
