KENORA — Police are reminding operators of electric bikes that they are required to stay sober just as the drivers of any other vehicles are.
OPP issued the warning after an incident in the Kenora area on the weekend.
Officers stopped the driver of an e-bike that was also carrying a passenger, and determined that he was impaired.
The man was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance, as well as several provincial offences.
“Just because it’s electric doesn’t mean the impaired driving laws run out of power,” police stated in a social media post.
“If you’re impaired, don’t get behind the handlebars, wheel, or controls of any vehicle or vessel. Make safe choices,” the message added.
