MERRIMAC, Wis. — The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 68-year-old woman who died last month after losing control of her e-bike.
The Sauk County Dispatch Center received a report of an e-bike crash on Idlewild Road in the Town of Merrimac shortly before 11:20 a.m. July 22.
Andrea Gibson was riding downhill when she lost control of the bike, left the roadway and struck a shed, sustaining severe injuries.
A witness told responding deputies that Gibson was traveling south on Idlewild Road near its intersection with Albrite Drive. The witness said Gibson was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
Gibson was wearing a helmet.
Emergency responders provided medical aid at the scene, where Gibson had suspected head trauma and lacerations to her torso. She lost consciousness before emergency medical services arrived.
UW MedFlight transported Gibson to a hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
