NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The company behind the upcoming Music City Loop says it is hiring.

The Boring Company, one of many organizations owned by billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk, announced that it is looking to expand the team building the Music City Loop.

The loop will be a tunnel that will connect downtown Nashville with the Nashville International Airport. It will run beneath state-owned roadways and be available only for Tesla taxis.

“As tunneling operations continue to improve, the team is expanding to support higher production rates and additional machines,” a blog post from The Boring Company said.

The update comes after tunneling officially began on the Tesla tunnel earlier this year.

The Boring Company has announced multiple partnerships to bring Music City Loops to select locations across the city. The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has approved a station at the airport, JW Marriott in downtown Nashville has approved a station at its hotel and multiple residential stations are planned.

However, the project continues to remain controversial. It’s been greenlit by Gov. Bill Lee and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, but the Metro Nashville Council has tried to put the brakes on the construction.

That’s because each development in the project has raised new questions on oversight and transparency from both The Boring Company and some of its supporters in Tennessee.
