Omoda 7 PHEV First Look Review | 1250+ KM Combined Range?

In this episode of the PakWheels First Look Review, Suneel Munj takes a closer look at the all-new Omoda 7 PHEV, one of the latest plug-in hybrid SUVs introduced in Pakistan by NextGen Auto, backed by Nishat Motors. The review covers its design, hybrid powertrain, premium interior, technology, and standout features.

Suneel begins by introducing the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, which were unveiled in Pakistan last year. He explains that while Omoda has previously introduced electric vehicles globally, today’s review focuses on the Omoda 7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

The Omoda 7 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an 18.4 kWh battery, producing a combined 341 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque. According to the company, it offers a combined driving range of over 1,200 km and an electric-only WLTP range of more than 90 km.

At the front, Suneel highlights the borderless piano black grille, sleek LED DRLs, welcome lighting and aggressive styling. He also notes the passive entry system, eliminating the need for a traditional start/stop button.

From the side, the SUV features sharp character lines, 20-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, roof rails and flush door handles. At the rear, it gets connected LED taillights, a spacious boot with 60:40 split-folding seats and a spare wheel.

Inside, the cabin offers soft-touch materials, wood-style trim and a premium finish throughout. A unique highlight is the built-in fragrance system with three selectable scents.

Technology includes a 15.6-inch infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, physical shortcut buttons, USB connectivity, multiple drive modes, dual cup holders and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. One of the standout features is the sliding infotainment screen, which can move towards the front passenger to create a Zero Gravity Cinema Seat experience. The intelligent voice assistant can also control several vehicle functions.

The Omoda 7 comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS package, including adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, a 540-degree camera, eight airbags, memory seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a passenger massage seat, and comfortable bucket-style seating.

Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom, a flat floor, panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, USB charging ports, and rear cup holders, making the SUV practical for family use.

Concluding the review, Suneel says the Omoda 7 offers an impressive combination of design, technology, comfort and performance. However, he believes its long-term success in Pakistan will ultimately depend on NextGen Auto’s customer service, spare parts availability and after-sales support.
