New luxo-performance EV king? (Genesis GV60 Magma 2026 review)
If you like the idea of a red-hot electric driver’s car such as Hyundai’s dual-motor twins, the 5 N and 6N, but shoehorned into a more reserved and mature package, the GV60 Magma medium sports SUV from cousin Genesis might do the trick nicely.
The debut model from the go-fast Magma skunkworks packs the same ‘boosted’ 478kW/790Nm electric wallop as the Hyundai heroes, porting the same 800-volt architecture and brimming high tech, if massaged with the luxury brands’ style, tuning and finesse.
Result? The same 3.4sec 0-100km/h ferocity, fake gearshift shenanigans and drift mode hilarity, in a more premium luxo-dipped experience that’s nicer day to day. But at $130,000 before on-road, it wants a higher price point for its superior Jekyll-and-Hyde pitch.
Senior contributor Nathan Ponchard takes a deep dive with the GV60 Magma to see whether this newcomer from Genesis is all things for the discerning EV fan.
