MENAHSA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A child suffered injuries after being hit by an e-bike in Menasha Friday, police say.

At 7:23 p.m., Menasha officers were called to Jefferson Park on Kargus Dr.

Officers found a 4-year-old child in the playground area with injuries.

The investigation uncovered that the child had been struck and run over by an e-bike.

Police described the child’s injuries as “cuts and contusions” to the head and face.

The child was taken to a hospital by parents for further evaluation.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to practice the utmost safety while operating e-bikes,” says Lt. Adam Schulz. “Be cautious of pedestrians, vehicles, and travel at a safe speed.”

Menasha, Neenah and Fox Crossing teamed up to create a uniform ordinance for e-bikes. Menasha’s common council voted to amend the ordinance and has yet to pass it.

No information was released on the rider of the e-bike.
