Is the 2026 VW Tiguan eHybrid Worth It? 75-Mile Range
The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan eHybrid is the plug-in hybrid VW should have built years ago, pairing a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for an official EV range of up to 75 miles before the engine ever wakes up.

Two states of tune are offered: 201 HP (150 kW) in Life and Elegance trim, and 268 HP (200 kW) in the R-Line, with 295 lb-ft of torque. The 19.7 kWh battery supports 11 kW AC home charging and up to 40 kW DC fast charging, and 0-62 mph takes 8.2 seconds in the 201 HP car or 7.2 seconds in the 268 HP R-Line. It is front-wheel drive through a 6-speed DSG.
Key strengths include the long EV range, a calm and well-built cabin, and smooth electric-to-petrol handover. The main trade-off is boot space, which drops to 490 litres (17.3 cubic feet) versus the petrol Tiguan, behind the Hyundai Tucson PHEV.
