Still Leading the Field | 30 Years of the Mercedes-AMG FIA F1 Safety Car

Thirty years later, the Mercedes-AMG FIA F1 Safety Car has become an indispensable part of Formula 1.

In Episode 3 of Guardian of the Grid, Norbert Haug, Michael Bock, Bernd Mayländer and Christoph Sagemüller reflect on what defines the Safety Car today and why it remains such a vital part of the sport.

They take a closer look at the SLS AMG, the first Safety Car developed entirely by AMG, and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, the current Safety Car. Two cars that embody AMG’s commitment to performance, precision and innovation — and demonstrate how the Safety Car has continuously evolved over the years.

Yet one thing has remained unchanged: its mission. And the fact that there has never been a technical failure during a Grand Prix throughout all these years speaks for itself.
