Anyone curious about owning an electric vehicle can test-drive one for free Saturday at Drive Electric Birmingham’s EV Ride & Drive Experience in Hoover.
Drive Electric Birmingham is hosting its first EV Ride & Drive Experience on Saturday, with attendees having the opportunity to test-drive a range of electric vehicles at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.
The event begins at 3 p.m. and is free to attend. Other activities include an electric vehicle showcase, children’s activities at Brock’s Gap Brewing Co. and a concert by Birmingham-based country band Deputy 5.
Attendees can test-drive different makes and models of electric vehicles from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Test drives are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and sign a liability waiver.
Those interested in test drives will need to fill out a registration form before the event.
Visitors can view electric vehicles ranging from sports cars to family SUVS from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees can also speak directly with EV owners about range, charging, performance and ownership costs.
Drive Electric Alabama partnered with Cadillac of Birmingham, Porsche of Birmingham, Tameron Hyundai and Hendrick Chevrolet for the test drives.
“This is a rare opportunity,” Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition’s President Michael Staley said.
“Where else can you test drive multiple electric vehicles for free, talk directly with owners and enjoy a great community event all in one place? If you’ve ever been curious about EVs, don’t miss it.”
Activities for children will also be available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brock’s Gap Brewing Co.
The event concludes with a live outdoor concert by Deputy 5 that starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
Drive Electric Alabama is a statewide coalition that aims to educate Alabamians about electric vehicles. Though Drive Electric Alabama has held showcases before, this is the organization’s first event featuring free public test drives.
