The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV XSE brings a powerful combination of electric driving, everyday practicality and strong performance to Toyota’s popular SUV lineup. Available with either front-wheel drive or intelligent all-wheel drive, the XSE introduces a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system built around a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, powerful electric motors and a large 22.7kWh lithium-ion battery.
The XSE AWD produces an impressive combined output of 227kW, while the lighter 2WD version delivers 201kW, making the new plug-in hybrid significantly more powerful than the conventional RAV4 Hybrid. The AWD model adds a dedicated rear electric motor and electronically distributes torque according to road conditions and driver demand, while Snow and Trail modes provide additional confidence on challenging surfaces.
Electric range is another major highlight. The XSE 2WD can travel up to 121km on the WLTP cycle, while the AWD version offers up to 113km. The battery supports 11kW AC charging and 50kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10-to-80-percent recharge in approximately 28 minutes under suitable conditions.
Drivers can select EV, Auto EV/HEV or HEV operation, along with Normal, Sport and Eco driving modes. Larger ventilated brakes provide stronger stopping performance, while a 1500W inverter powers a practical AC outlet in the cargo area. Combining impressive electric range, fast charging, versatile performance and everyday SUV usability, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 PHEV XSE offers one of the most compelling electrified packages in the RAV4 family.
