The 2026 Geely Starray Is the Plug-in Hybrid You Might Never Fuel
The 2026 Geely Starray EM-i is a value plug-in super-hybrid SUV that fixes the biggest frustration with most plug-in hybrids: short electric range. The top version offers up to 84 miles of pure electric driving, so for most people the petrol engine becomes a backup you rarely touch. It combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for 259 horsepower (0-62 mph in 8.0 seconds), earns a full 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, comes loaded with kit (heated electric seats, wireless smartphone connection), and is backed by an 8-year warranty, from £29,990. It rivals the Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid and the Omoda 7.

In this video, we take a closer look: the design, the well-equipped interior, the super-hybrid system, and the honest catches.
Key strengths: up to 84 miles of electric range, 259 hp, 5-star safety, loads of standard kit, a long warranty, and strong value. Trade-offs: the 84-mile range is on the pricier versions (cheaper ones get around 51 miles), it’s soft rather than sporty, and Geely’s resale and dealer network are less proven.
This video covers: the design, the interior, the 84-mile super-hybrid, and Geely Starray vs RAV4 PHEV.
