NEWBERG, Ore. (KPTV) – A man riding an electric bike home to celebrate his birthday on Sunday was killed in a crash, according to the Newberg-Dundee Police Department.
At about 5:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a crash between an e-bike rider and a pickup truck hauling a boat on Hancock Street near Harrison Street.
Police said bystanders and medical personnel tried to save the e-bike rider, identified as Paul Rusciolelli, of Dundee, but he died at the scene.
Police said Sunday was Rusciolelli’s 68th birthday and he was riding home to celebrate the day with loved ones when he died.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, but police said no impairment was detected from either Rusciolelli or the pickup truck driver.
