2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland PHEV Review: Quick. Efficient. Adventure Ready? #automotive

The Toyota RAV4 has been America’s best-selling passenger vehicle for years. The new 2026 version goes hybrid-only. And Toyota claims it’s building significantly more plug-in hybrid versions now.

And not all Toyota RAV4 PHEVs are the same! In this review, I test Toyota’s adventure-oriented RAV4 Woodland PHEV to see if its 324-horsepower powertrain, 49 miles of electric driving range, standard AWD, and off-road upgrades justify the extra cost over the standard hybrid. Only you can tell if it’s worth the extra $5,400.

I cover real-world electric range, charging, fuel economy, towing, cargo space, ride quality, off-road capability, interior quality, and Toyota’s new Arene infotainment system.

The Woodland trim adds all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, roof rack hardware, DC fast-charging capability, and a rugged appearance package. If you’re shopping the Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid, Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Nissan Rogue PHEV, Lexus NX450h+, Subaru Outback, or another compact SUV, this review will help with your decision.
