Toyota RAV4 PHEV Review 2026, DRIVEN On UK Roads! (4K) | Carcode

The Toyota RAV4 is one of the most iconic SUVs, and now it has entered its 6th generation!

Plug in hybrids have soared in popularity recently due to their low running costs, ease of use and company car tax advantages, meaning the new RAV4 is now offered exclusively as a PHEV in the UK.

4 trims are available; Icon, Design (as reviewed), Excel & GR Sport, which has a sportier design and is offered as an AWD model as standard.

The new 22.7kWh hybrid battery means a WLTP range of up to 85 miles is claimed on the Icon model and around 80 miles in the rest of the range, this is nearly double the previous model.

Once again a 2.5L naturally aspirated (non-turbo) 4-cylinder petrol engine is offered mated with the electric motor, making 268BHP on the FWD models and with AWD, 305BHP. AWD is available for just over £2,000 on Excel trim and is standard on top-spec GR Sport, meaning an AWD RAV4 is always over £52,000.

I was very impressed on first impressions of the driving experience and solid feel of the car, I look forwards to giving it a full review in the future!

Thanks to Toyota UK for making this video possible.
