A Chrysler minivan racks up the most annual miles of any gas car
Gas cars are driven more than EVs, while hybrids top them all.
Sports cars fill the bottom, from the Mercedes SL to the Lexus LC500
Have you ever wondered which cars in the US actually get driven the most? Well, a new iSeeCars study of more than 2.1 million three-year-old vehicles has an answer, and the results are interesting even with their caveats, showing that gas-powered cars generally rack up far more mileage than electric cars.
To compile the rankings, iSeeCars analyzed odometer readings from more than 2.1 million three-year-old vehicles sold in 2025, calculating average annual mileage by model and drivetrain. Low-volume models were excluded from the analysis.

But there’s a bigger catch worth keeping in mind before reading too much into any of this. The study only counts three-year-old cars that changed hands in 2025, which means it captures the driving habits of people who decided to part with them.
Owners who held on don’t show up at all, and there’s no telling whether they rack up more miles or fewer than the ones who sold. A Mustang traded in after averaging 2,092 miles a year says plenty about that particular owner and not much about the guy keeping his in the garage for the next decade.
Perhaps the most intriguing conclusion is the difference in mileage between the most- and least-driven cars. The Chrysler Pacifica tops the list as the most-driven gas car with an average of 20,872 miles (33,590 km) per year, 56.7 percent above the gas vehicle average of 13,323 miles (21,441 km).

By comparison, the least-driven gas car is the Ford Mustang with an average of just 2,092 miles (3,366 km) per year, or 84.3 percent less than the average. While it makes sense that Mustangs aren’t driven that often, we would have thought new owners would have driven their cars more frequently. After all, the Mustang is relatively practical when it comes to sports cars.
America’s Most-Driven Cars
Other vehicles listed among the most-frequently driven gas-powered offerings include the Chrysler Voyager at 20,549 miles (33,070 km), the Chevrolet Suburban with 19,626 miles (31,584 km), and the Kia Carnival at 18,884 miles (30,390 km), and the Chevrolet Malibu at 18,857 miles (30,347 km). Overwhelmingly these vehicles are focused on moving families, passengers, and cargo.
Annual Mileage by Drivetrain for 3-Year-Old Vehicles
One of the study’s more surprising findings is that conventional hybrids are actually the most-driven vehicles on the road. They average 14,696 miles per year, 10.3 percent more than gas-powered vehicles and 23.7 percent more than EVs. As iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer noted, “Hybrids being driven more than gasoline models shows how far the technology has advanced.”
Sports cars fill out the least-driven list. Behind the Mustang is the Mercedes-Benz SL at 3,176 miles (5,111 km), the Porsche 911 at 3,850 miles (6,195 km), the Chevrolet Corvette at 4,394 miles (7,071 km), and the Lexus LC 500 at 4,404 miles (7,087 km). The only non-sports cars on the list are the Mercedes G-Class at 6,674 miles (10,740 km) and the C-Class Convertible at 7,104 miles (11,432 km).
iSeeCars also broke out the average miles driven by EVs and hybrids. Among EVs, the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y lead at 13,759 miles (22,142 km) and 13,538 miles (21,787 km), respectively. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 follows at 12,271 miles (19,748 km), the only other EV above the segment average of 11,880 miles (19,119 km). Both Teslas also clear the gas-vehicle average, making Tesla the only EV brand with models that do.
At the opposite end of the EV rankings, luxury and performance models tend to see far less use. The Audi RS e-tron GT averages just 6,461 miles (10,397 km) per year, followed by the Lucid Air at 6,877 miles (11,068 km) and the Mazda MX-30 EV at 7,198 miles (11,584 km).
As for hybrids, the most frequently driven include the Toyota Sienna at 17,368 miles (27,951 km), the Toyota Highlander Hybrid with 16,795 miles (27,028 km), and the Toyota Camry Hybrid at 16,605 miles (26,723 km). Toyota dominates the rankings, accounting for five of the 10 most-driven hybrids.
