Powertrain type unclear (EV or PHEV)Expected to replace MG Hector Plus

The wrapped Wuling Starlight 560 has been spotted several times by by now, and we have speculated that SUV will get plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric options. A test car was spotted charging, but it is difficult to tell whether it was an EV or a PHEV.

The Starlight 560 will mostly have a different nameplate in India, since it will arrive as an MG here. We have seen a patent, spy shots near the factory, and this one that shows the SUV stationed at a charging point. The focus on NEVs (New Energy Vehicles) is clear. This SUV spans 4.75m long, 1.85m wide, and 1.75m high, with a 2.81m wheelbase. Features include a 12.8-inch infotainment with wireless connectivity, leatherette upholstery, and a 763-litre boot.

Mechanically, the PHEV is powered by a 1.5-litre NA motor paired with an EV powertrain with a 20.5kWh battery pack, resulting in a combined output of 194bhp/230Nm. On the other hand, the EV churns out 134bhp/200Nm, and it is paired with a 56.7kWh battery pack. In China, the Starlight 560 starts at 98,800 Reminbi, which roughly equals Rs. 13.5 lakh.
