NEW 2026 BYD Atto 2 DM-i: Europe’s Cheapest Plug-In SUV is Here!

The BYD Atto 2 DM-i is the cheapest plug-in hybrid SUV on sale in Europe, a compact crossover competing with the Ford Puma and Jeep Avenger by pairing real 55-mile electric range with a petrol backup, starting at around $32,000 (EUR 28,000) for the Boost.

In this video, we take a closer look at the 2026 BYD Atto 2 DM-i, including the exterior design, the interior and tech, boot space, and how BYD’s Super Hybrid powertrain actually works.

The Atto 2 DM-i uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine that mostly acts as a generator, so most of the time you are driving an EV. The Boost trim has an 18 kWh battery for 55 miles of electric-only range, 209 HP, and a combined range of around 620 miles. The Active trim uses a 7.8 kWh battery for 25 EV miles and 164 HP. Both make 300 Nm of torque.

Key strengths include genuinely usable EV range, a strong standard equipment list, and the lowest price of any plug-in SUV in the class. The main trade-off is the firm, roly-poly ride, which costs it driving fun but suits its comfort-first town focus.

This video covers: BYD Atto 2 DM-i exterior design, interior quality and screens, boot space, Super Hybrid powertrain, electric range, charging, Active vs Boost trims, and pricing vs rivals.

If you are interested in plug-in hybrids, affordable Chinese EVs, and compact SUVs, this is one you do not want to miss.
