Peugeot Polygon Concept l Design Stories l Episode 3
With #PeugeotPolygonConcept everything was rethought from scratch. The cabin. The structures. The trims. The entire interior synthesis is the result of one guiding ambition: to push the boundaries of interior design further than ever before.
In this episode, Guillaume Lemaitre (Interior Advanced Design Lead), Xavier Durand and William Dufour (Interior Designers), Léa Cochet (Colour & Trim Designer) and Matthias Hossann (Head of Peugeot Design) tell the story of building a new kind of interior space.
It is, as the team describe it, an architectural story. By moving all information onto a floating, adaptive display projected onto the windscreen, the traditional dashboard could be stripped away and replaced by a lighter, airier space.
Every part was developed with precision, in centimetres, even millimetres. No unnecessary shapes.
New materials were part of that thinking too. The seat base, for example, is 3D printed – a structural and aesthetic form onto which comfort foam is added. Taking materials out of their usual context and finding entirely new applications for them inside a car.
