WILLINGTON — A 25-year-old Avon man was flown to a hospital on Saturday morning after police said he was injured in a rollover crash.
Connecticut State Police said in an incident report released Monday that the man’s passenger, a 21-year-old New Jersey woman, was also injured and taken to a hospital.
In their report, police described the driver’s and passenger’s injuries as minor. State police initially described the driver’s injuries as serious over the weekend.
Police responded to Willington Hill Road near the Eldredge Road intersection around 4 a.m. Saturday for the reported crash.
Police determined the Avon man was driving a 2023 Tesla Model Y south on Willington Hill Road and, while going downhill, the vehicle “drove off the roadway and drove over a rock wall in the right shoulder,” according to the report.
The Tesla continued forward before hitting a tree and rolling over, coming to a stop on its roof on the right shoulder, police wrote in the report.
LifeStar, a critical care helicopter, transported the driver to Rhode Island Hospital, while the passenger was taken via ambulance to Hartford Hospital, police said.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
“Fault for this incident has not yet been determined,” state police wrote in the report. “This case requires further investigation and will remain open.”
