A 13-year-old boy was killed after losing control of an electric motorcycle and crashing in Orange County Thursday night, police said.
The Garden Grove Police Department said officers were alerted to the incident after receiving a call from Life360 reporting a possible traffic collision in the 13100 block of Magnolia Street near Larson Avenue at about 9:50 p.m.
He was identified by friends as Benson Nguyen, 13, of Santa Ana, and was a middle school student within the Garden Grove Unified School District.
Video obtained by KTLA from Citizen.com showed a large police response at the scene.
As officers arrived, the boy was already being loaded into an ambulance. Police said he was unconscious and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“Despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced deceased,” the department said in a statement.
Investigators said the boy was traveling at approximately 35 mph when he struck the center median on Magnolia Street, causing him to lose control of the electric motorcycle and be ejected.
It was not immediately clear why the teen hit the median or whether he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
