The 2027 Lexus TZ is the brand’s first three-row electric SUV and is closely related to the Toyota Highlander EV and the Subaru Getaway.
The TZ comes standard with all-wheel drive and either a 77- or a 96-kWh battery pack, with the latter providing roughly 300 miles of range.
The six-seat EV SUV is expected to go on sale near the end of 2026, with pricing to be revealed closer to that time.
After taking years of criticism for its slow EV rollout, Toyota is finally starting to catch up—and now Lexus is too. The luxury brand just revealed its first three-row electric SUV, the TZ, which, unsurprisingly, is closely related to the new Toyota Highlander and Subaru Getaway.

The TZ’s styling looks to have drawn inspiration from Mandalorian armor in the Star Wars universe, with a segmented leading end and body panels that sport aggressive angles. The TZ shares its wheelbase with the Highlander, but at 200.8 inches long, the Lexus is two inches longer overall, and at 67.1 inches tall, the TZ sits slightly lower than its Toyota counterpart.
The Lexus offers seating for six and gets more luxurious trappings than its corporate siblings. The first and second rows come with heated and ventilated seats, while the second and third rows are equipped with a one-touch fold feature.

Lexus is incredibly proud of how quiet the TZ’s cabin is. “This is one of the quietest—if not the quietest—SUV cabins in the world,” said chief branding officer Simon Humphries during the reveal. While we won’t be able to verify his claims until we get our hands (read: testing equipment) on the new TZ, it’s a solid endorsement. The emphasis on serenity becomes a bit humorous when juxtaposed against the TZ’s primary easter egg—the ability to simulate the Lexus LFA’s fantastic V-10 exhaust tune through the interior speakers.

At least for the first model year, the TZ will be offered exclusively with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Customers will have the choice between a standard 77-kWh battery pack or a longer-range 96-kWh pack. Lexus claims the larger battery is good for up to 300 miles of range, depending on the trim. The TZ won’t be setting any charging records, with Lexus estimating a 10-to-80 percent charge at 35 minutes with a max rate of 150 kW.

Unfortunately, Lexus hasn’t provided more details surrounding the TZ’s powertrain, but thankfully, we have the Toyota and Subaru to look to. The Highlander offers 338 horsepower, while the Subaru packs 420 ponies. If we were heading to the bookie, we’d wager the top Lexus trims land somewhere north of 400.
