SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, has added a more affordable variant of its recently launched X1 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

Enter the BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine, which trades the sportier look of the M Sport for a more rugged, purposeful design.

Like the X1 xDrive25e M Sport, this variant uses a plug-in hybrid system combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with an electric motor integrated into a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This parallel hybrid setup delivers a combined output of 245 horsepower and 477 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, sent through a hybrid-specific BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

The BMW X1 xDrive25e xLine swaps sporty aggression for a more rugged, utility-focused look.

This permanent AWD system ensures optimal traction and directional stability by precisely managing power between the front and rear wheels, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 6.8 seconds. The X1 plug-in hybrid xLine also offers an electric-only range of up to 102 kilometers (WLTP).

For safety, the X1 plug-in hybrid xLine comes standard with BMW Driving Assistant. This includes collision warning, lane change warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert, among others. It also features parking assistant, which bundles a reversing camera and active park distance control.

Matte-black cladding and satin silver accents give the xLine a tougher, more outdoorsy stance.

Visually, the xLine leans toward a more rugged aesthetic. Instead of the M Sport’s body-colored cladding and sportier bumpers, it adopts matte-black cladding paired with satin silver accents, 18-inch light alloy wheels, and adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist.

Inside, the cabin is finished in durable yet premium materials, including Veganza perforated vegan leather upholstery. Key features include a wireless charging pad, power-adjustable front seats, and a powered tailgate. Unlike the M Sport, however, the xLine does without the Harman Kardon sound system.
