Ever wished your car had a bathroom on long road trips? Well… one company might be taking that idea seriously.
Chinese automaker Seres has filed a patent for an “in-vehicle toilet” — yes, a real one — designed to slide out from under a passenger seat.
The concept? Simple: no more desperate stops during long drives, camping trips, or overnight stays in your car.
According to the filing, the toilet can be deployed with a button or even voice commands.
It comes equipped with a ventilation system to push odours outside, and a tank to collect waste.
There’s even a heating mechanism to dry and process it.
When not in use, it neatly disappears under the seat. Convenient… or a little too close for comfort?
EV Innovation Pushes Boundaries
This isn’t just a quirky idea. China’s electric vehicle market is fiercely competitive, with brands packing cars full of unusual features.
From karaoke systems to massage seats — all to stand out.

Companies like BYD are already pushing innovation hard.
Still, experts remain cautious. “Patents don’t always mean production,” one analyst notes.
So, will your next car come with a toilet? Maybe.
But one thing’s certain — in the race to innovate, automakers are clearly thinking outside the box… or perhaps, inside it.
