Peugeot l Designed To Last l Cyril Souchaud
In this video, Cyril Souchaud – Quality Director of the Sochaux plant – shows how quality is managed directly on the production line. At the Sochaux site, where the latest Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 models are manufactured, 1,050 vehicles are leaving the line every day.
Together with his team, Cyril takes customer feedback seriously and uses it as a driver for industrial improvement. The way defects are captured and analysed has been strengthened, with a multi‑disciplinary team that now also includes the vehicle designers. This allows issues to be analysed and solutions to be brought into production as quickly as possible. Today, only 2–3 customer defects are reported per week – four times fewer than last year. Most importantly, this process enables vehicles to be repaired and returned to customers as fast as possible.
On the shop floor, every vehicle is inspected across more than 2,000 checkpoints. Each day, 1.5% of production is sampled and subjected to road tests lasting more than three hours, allowing all functions to be checked in detail and ensuring the vehicles leaving the factory meet Peugeot’s quality standards.
Quality at Sochaux is a collective commitment. As Cyril Souchaud puts it: “I want the cars to be right the first time, and we don’t want any more unhappy customers.”
