Electric off-road brand Bonnell used Supercross weekend in Daytona to conduct what the company describes as its first true multi-day testing session with its 805 and 902 e-Moto prototypes. Held on February 28 and March 1, the event brought together a curated group of factory riders, engineers, partners, and industry figures, but was framed deliberately as a development exercise rather than a formal reveal.

The opening day focused on consistency and data gathering. Engineers remained trackside throughout, with the Sirris suspension team working in parallel to refine the platform between sessions. Riders were chosen for their technical feedback capacity as much as their riding ability.

“We’re in a really good spot, the core is solid and everyone’s happy. Now it’s about small adjustments and fine-tuning to get it exactly where people want it.” – Matt Wauters, CEO Bonnell

Day two shifted toward performance. Pro riders including Josh Hill, Tom Parsons, Brett Baldwin, Ryan Sipes, Trevor Stewart, Max Beaupre, Sean Finley, Jason Borosky, and Jay Dalton each ran the bikes across woods loops and moto track sessions, with suspension tuning carried out live between runs. Hill, in particular, was singled out for pushing the machines to their limits while providing structured, development-grade feedback. Parsons extended the scope further, taking the platform to an airbag to probe its control behavior at extremes.

In a post-session statement, Bonnell described the platform as “highly effective” and confirmed the project is now entering a refinement phase rather than a foundational one. The company acknowledged that neither the 805 nor the 902 is a finished product, but suggested both are approaching that point.

Bonnell previously established itself in the e-MTB segment before pivoting toward e-Moto development. The brand is signaling a new product category launch later this year, though no timeline or specification details have been made public.

Further test sessions are planned ahead of that release.
