A redesigned Bentayga is reportedly coming in two years and it’ll have a lot in common with the next Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne

A new Bentley Bentayga will reportedly arrive in 2028.

Will ride on PPC platform that underpins new Audi Q7.

Crossover will offer plug-in hybrid and ICE power.

After years of hype, Bentley recently hit the brakes on their extensive electric vehicle rollout. While the Barnato is still coming, an assortment of other future models have been axed.

This reportedly includes a fully electric successor to the popular Bentayga. The model would have presumably challenged Rolls-Royce’s upcoming electric SUV, but that battle won’t be taking place.

However, Bentley isn’t throwing in the towel on the Bentayga. Quite the opposite as a second-generation model will reportedly arrive in 2028 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

According to Autocar, the model was originally set to ride on the Scalable Systems Platform. However, with that architecture delayed, Bentley had to do a serious rethink as the current Bentayga is already over a decade old.

Unsurprisingly, the new model will ride on the Premium Platform Combustion, which will also underpin the next-generation Audi Q7 and Q9 as well as the ICE-powered Porsche Cayenne. Bentley CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser told the publication the redesigned Bentayga will be offered primarily with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

However, certain markets and trims will get conventional gasoline engines. This likely means Americans can expect a familiar twin-turbo V8 as that’s what they want.

The second-generation Bentayga will be positioned above the Barnato and it’s expected to spawn another long-wheelbase variant. The model should also come with modern technology as well as more advanced driver assistance systems.

Walliser also implied the Flying Spur and Continental lineup will eventually transition to the PPC platform. The publication believes this will occur late this decade as the current cars are still relatively fresh.
