Police in Immingham have warned the public of the dangers posed by electric bikes and scooters after several were seized following concerns raised by local residents.

The action formed part of a targeted day of enforcement, during which officers from the Immingham and Grimsby West Team focused on speeding, anti-social driving and wider traffic offences.

During the operation, a car was seized and a driver reported after being found to be driving without insurance or a licence. Two further motorists were stopped and reported for excess speed, while several others were issued warnings about their standard of driving. Officers also carried out checks on multiple vehicles, providing advice to drivers and gathering intelligence.

In a separate development, a motorcycle reported stolen in January 2026 was recovered. Officers said the owner was “very happy to have his bike returned”.

Two electric bikes and an electric scooter were also seized. Police have reminded the public that it is illegal to ride privately owned e-scooters on public roads without the appropriate licence and insurance, warning they can pose a risk to both riders and other road users.

The operation formed part of Humberside Police’s ongoing efforts under Operation Yellowfin, a force-wide initiative targeting offenders involved in motoring-related crime across the region.

A spokesperson said: “With the use of a Humberside Police Drone, results were gained along with information that can be utilised in the future. Thanks to the local #immingham residents for engaging with us today. Please continue to report nuisance motorcycles and any other matters of concern to Humberside Police.”
